So just yesterday, we got an email from one of our visitors to our website, and here's what it said:
"Why is a bear society here in El Paso so concerned with sex, drinking and other illicit activities. Yet no other beneficial activities have risen?"
We take this kind of comment seriously, because we don't want anyone to be thinking something different than what it really is about our organization.
We all talked about it, and here's what we have to say about it.
Dear Concerned Bear,
In reference to your concern for a “Bear Society here in El Paso”, We’d like to make clarification to which bear organization you have concerns about. To be quite honest with you, this could be any bear group since we know of several in El Paso. On behalf of The Bear Society of El Paso, we would like to clarify with you if you any misconceptions in reference to our organization. For starters, it’s in your best interest to address this matter by possibly supporting your “concern”, directly to the organizations founders with substantial details. So many people in El Paso criticize the gay scene on how superficial everyone is and how everyone is focused on the wrong things. Most of those people who complain about it ADD to the drama and the superficiality and illicit activities, so it’s possible that you might have been misinformed. In addition, this would be great feedback for the organization to be informed about any misconceptions of its image.
Groups and organizations are run the way they see fit. Unfortunately, since there are other groups out there with “illicit” agendas, we or other bear/gay social groups cannot be held accountable for their actions or activities. As many organizations, The Bear Society is governed by its members and bylaws. Under Sec. 2.0 of Memberships, we hold accountable anyone who is not upholding their membership responsibility. Since TBS in the early stages, of becoming a respected organization, any ideas you see may be helpful, feel free to join and draw your own conclusion about the group.
Furthermore, inform the organization about your ideas and what you consider “other beneficial activities”. Currently, we are working on fundraisers to support a cause. It takes a lot of time to develop a website, Facebook page, bear shirts, bear magazine, etc. As you may very well know, in the business world it takes money to make money. Our developer and President, Alejandro, takes a lot of pride in his work and is always up for suggestions and opinions from individuals as yourself. We would like to personally extend an invitation to you, not only to join our events, work outs, brunches, and social gatherings, but also a chance to know us as well. Unfortunately, many individuals believe that filling out an application is plenty to become part of our organization/group. Individuals are highly encouraged to take part socialy. Ensure we get your contact information and stay connected to receive the invite for our Meet & Greet event. We will post the time on our website very soon, and see for yourself the close knit of friends which are there for one another. Best of luck to you, with hope that Concerned Bear turns into Carefree Bear in the future.
